More than 9,000 detained in Balochistan under arrest in 2015
QUETTA: More than 9,000 suspected militants and offenders were apprehended by authorities, levies, frontier corps and intelligence agencies in Balochistan as a part of the national action plan during the year 2015, according to Home Secretary Balochistan, Akbar Hussain Durrani.
The Home Secretary promised that a total of 1,973 intelligence based-operations were conducted in Balochistan and apprehend the components involved in targeted killings, bomb explosions and kidnappings.
“Innocent people were freed, while the offenders were charged”, he added.
Durrani stated the law enforcement agencies also killed at least 204 ‘hardcore militants during the year 2015 adding that 70 law enforcement agencies’ staff were also killed during encounters with ‘miscreants.
He maintained the defendants killed during the operation largely belonged to banned outfits.
“Balochistan Government executed 17 out of 20 points under REST to bring a conclusion to unrest and preserve law and order scenario. ” Mr. Durrani said.

The Home Secretary said that law and order situation in Balochistan enhanced by 70 percent during the past couple of years. “Whole implementation of NAP would ensure peace within the state,” he added.
Security forces’ expedited operations in Quetta and other troubled elements of Balochistan in the wake of statement of REST by the federal government following the terror strike on Peshawar’s Army Public School, which killed 144 people, mainly kids.
The state has been below the grip of violence assaults by militant groups and Baloch insurgents for last more than a decade. Violent assaults claimed dozens of precious human lives.
