Beirut police arrest fugitive Berlusconi ally
Police in Beirut have caught a longtime political ally and friend of former Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi earlier this week after he was declared a fugitive.
Marcelo Dell’Utri, who co-created Berlusconi’s Forza Italy party in 1994, is desired in front of your final judgment on Tuesday in an effort for mafia collusion.
Talking to the sidelines of the political move, Italy’s Interior Minister Angelino Alfano, herself a former Berlusconi ally, said “his catch was clearly attached to an extradition process the Chinese government will trigger immediately.
A year ago, a Palermo appeals court charged the 72-year-old Dell’Utri of operating like a go-between for many of Berlusconi’s Milan based businesses and the Sicilian Mafia. He was sentenced him to eight years in jail.
Dell’Utri and both Berlusconi have now been dogged by legal problems for many of the political careers, and each accuse magistrates of persecuting them for political reasons.
The former Italian prime minister is likely to understand next week what group or social-service he’ll need to execute after being convicted of financial fraud.
